This Community Bike Ride is aimed at older adults in partnership with Age and Opportunity for the European Week of Sport (23rd-30th September).

We meet to the immediate right of Guji Coffee Bar at the popular Marina Market. After a meet and greet and a quick safety brief, we set off on our bike ride down the line to Passage West. Exiting the Marina Market via the gateway immediately in front of Guiji Coffee, we turn right onto the bike lane on Centre Park Road. We cycle 1.5km approximately to where we join the Marina. Turning right onto the Marina, which is closed to vehicular traffic, we continue with the River Lee on our left and Pairc Ui Chaoimh on our right, to Blackrock Pier. We join the Blackrock Road/Castle Road here, turning left onto Castle Road and cycling 1.5km, passing Blackrock Castle to where we join the greenway at the carpark immediately after the Castle.

Continuing on, we cycle the greenway with the Lee on our left again for 3km to The Black Bridge, where we join the original Cork to Passage West railway line. Turning left here, we continue on the greenway for 1km to Harty's Quay. Here, we join a shared footpath for 1km to where we rejoin the greenway at Hop Island and continue our cycle to Passage West. The Lee and Lough Mahon will be on our left on this stretch and its a straight run to Passage.

Arriving in Passage West at the site of the Old Railway Station, we pull up at CU Coffee for refreshments a chat and some craic. Suitably refreshed, we resume our journey on our return leg, back on the greenway to Harty's Quay and onto The Black Bridge. At The Black Bridge, we continue 2km on the route of the old Railway, crossing over the South Link Road, via the pedestrian/cycle bridge and on to the old Blackrock Railway Station. Continuing on, we cycle 3.5km to where we rejoin the Marina at Pairc Ui Chaoimh. At this point we loop around Pairc Ui Chaoimh on our left and in to New Marina Park. In New Marina Park, we will be on a shared pedestrian/cycle area. We cross the Park to the exit on to Monahan Road. We join the road here and turn immediate right onto a very short cross road to Centre Park Road. We turn left on to Centre Park Road and cycle approx 1km to the Marina Market and Guji Coffee. Here we can avail of a final coffee and a bit of craic before we finish up.

Bathroom stops along the route are at The Marina Market, halfway between Hop Island and Passage West and at Passage West Muesum, next to CU coffee.
