We leave Hotel Kilkenny and make our way to the Ballycallan Road via a couple of roundabouts. Passing Drakelands nursing home on our left, we proceed for about 8km to Ballycallan Village. The group continues on the road towards Kilmanagh for a further 3km before turning left for Callan. This quiet country road takes us through the small village of Foxcover. After approximately 4km we reach a crossroads where we continue straight to reach the edge of the Callan bypass. The group then proceeds into Callan Town where we will stop for coffee at 'Fennellys' coffee shop. We will have travelled approximately 20km at this stage.
After our refreshments, we make our way back to the main Callan to Kilkenny Road. This is a busy road but has a good hard shoulder. We proceed for approximately 3km on this road before turning right for Burnchurch. Again, this is a quiet rural road. On our left we will pass Burnchurch Castle and continue straight for 3km until we reach Seven Houses crossroads. The group then turn left onto the Kells Road and after a further 8km of cycling we reach Kilkenny City and return to Hotel Kilkenny.
