Please note this cycle is part of “Her Outdoors” week being promoted by Sport Ireland and is a cycle specifically targeted at female participants.
Heading out of Carrigfoyle Lake car park we take a left hand turn and head down the hill, turning right onto the L30271. We pass the mast on Fort Mountain on our right and on our left we have stunning views out over the South Wexford Coastline. If it's really clear, we will have a view of Rosslare Harbour and the Saltee Islands. We continue along this road and at the T junction, we take a right hand turn and make our way up in the direction of Pennylands and the Grotto. We continue down this road and at the next T junction we turn right again heading over to the Cools. We have lots of downhill here before we meet the Kingsford road. We take another right hand turn here and make our way all the way down past Barntown Church. On our left we will have stunning views of Brandon Hill in Co. Kilkenny and the Blackstairs Mountain range all the way along this road. We turn right over to the Barntown Village and right again passing the parish pump to make our way up the short hill through the village which will take us up to meet the top of Ballindinas hill. Turning right here we travel up this road and wind our way over to Matt's Lane. We head up Matt's Lane and at the top pass the barrier to take us back to our start point of Carrigfoyle Lake car park. Our cycle concludes here. If the weather is favourable, there is plenty of great photo opportunities along this route.

I love my bike! I love adventure, being outside in the fresh air, on the move, all year round. I love how it makes me feel - Alive! I honestly believe the best experiences are shared experiences which is why I decided to register to become a Ride Leader. I want to share the 'Feel Good' with as many people as possible. We will never be as young again as we are now, let's give it a go and see what happens!
While the wet weather threatened our cycle tonight, it certainly didn't stop it. We had sunshine to start up at Carrigfoyle lake as Anna from Sports Active Wexford took our photograph before setting out on our bike ride. We got most of the way round before we were hampered slightly by a drizzly couple of minutes but we ploughed on with a lovely 2k downhill all the way to Barntown village. It was here we started to climb again and make our way back up to Carrigfoyle passing up through what must be one of the narrowest roads in Wexford, if not Ireland. It was a bit of a slog, but being our only hill we just took it in our stride. It also brought us up to the 3 Rocks Monument where we stopped for a quick photo due to it being such a historic local site. It was great to get out tonight. With it being August, our evening light is starting to disappear that bit more quickly so it's all about making the most of it while we have it.
