Castlebridge to Enniscorthy Loop.

This 47km spin which goes through Enniscorthy is suitable for all of our regular cyclists.

We meet at the Catholic Church in Castlebridge and cycle out to Kilcorral and Garylough. Here we go straight until we reach Cooney’s Cross where we turn left. This road goes to Ballymurn and it is part of the Wexford Cycling Hub with great mountain views on a clear day. After a few kilometres, we come to a full crossroads called Mye Cross where we turn right. We then reach Cooladine where we go left, and we continue from here into Enniscorthy by going left onto the R744. When we reach Enniscorthy we give way to traffic at the old bridge and we then go down the quay in the right hand lane. We cross the new bridge and carefully cross lanes on the bridge to the left side and go down to The Riverside Hotel for our break.

After the break, we go half way back up the Prom, and go left onto Millpark Road. Here we go left and we cycle out through Tomnalssett and Borodale on the west side of The Slaney until we reach Edermine where we go left and cross the river at Edermine Bridge. This is a narrow bridge with a level crossing, where we give way to oncoming traffic if they are on the bridge before us. When we reach the main road, we can dismount and walk across the road as this is a busy road with heavy traffic. Here we go right and almost immediately left. We continue cycling up through Glenteige and at Riverview we go right. At the next turn we go left and then left again. We cross the Sow River and stop at the top of the hill. We then go right all the way to The Airfield Road where we go left. At the end of this road we turn right and ride back down the hill into the village of Castlebridge. In the village we go left, and the Catholic Church is on the right where we started our spin.

About

I live in Castlebridge in Co. Wexford and I am a keen leisure cyclist. I try to get out as often as possible and enjoy cycling mostly within my own locality. I would love to see more people out on their bikes, taking advantage of all the health and social benefits that cycling has to offer.
