We meet for today’s spin at the entrance to the car park on the R741 (Old Dublin Road) at The Frying Irishman/Ballyelland Pottery in Castlebridge opposite Wexford Block. This cycle is around 42kms. It’s a figure of 8 and practically all today’s cycling is on quiet country roads.
We leave the car park, turning left onto the R741 and cycle for about 1km, where we turn left. We very shortly come to a T-Junction and take a right here at The Fig Tree Garden Centre. We continue on this road for about 5kms passing through Garylough until we reach Ballybeg. These are very quiet country roads and there are lovely views of the sea on our right. We turn left at Ballybeg and after 3kms we reach Ballylucas Cross. Here we turn right and we cycle to the village of The Ballagh which is a distance of about 6kms. The surface on this road is a little bumpy so we need to take good care. Once we reach The Ballagh, we will stop for a water break.
In The Ballagh, we take a left and continue on the R744/Enniscorthy Road as far as Cooladine Cross. The views of Mt. Leinster from here are excellent. At this crossroads, we turn left. When we go over the Motorway overpass we reach Drumgoold which is just under Vinegar Hill on our right.
In Drumgoold we take a left, and for around 5kms we follow the route of the Wexford Cycle Hub into the village of Ballymurn, where we will take a 20min break at the shop. After the break we carry on to Ballylucas Cross and turn right. From Ballylucas it’s about 6kms straight back to Castlebridge.

I live in Castlebridge in Co. Wexford and I am a keen leisure cyclist. I try to get out as often as possible and enjoy cycling mostly within my own locality. I would love to see more people out on their bikes, taking advantage of all the health and social benefits that cycling has to offer.
A great spin to Drumgoold near Enniscorthy today. Weather stayed fine throughout and we enjoyed coffee and chat at 'The Mill Pottery and Coffee' hatch at the end.
