Limerick Ride with Pride for LGBTI+ Community
We are hosting a Community Bike Ride for the LGBTI+ community on the Limerick Greenway on Saturday August 20th! We will meet at the Limerick Greenway Bike Hire Shop in Rathkeale at 9:45am and cycle the full 37km route to Abbeyfeale. Participants have the option of getting the bus back to Rathkeale at a cost of €10 per person, payable on the day at the bike hire shop. The bus returns to Rathkeale at 1pm and 3pm. You can also cycle back if fitness levels allow. Feel free to bring your own bike (helmets mandatory), but discounted bike rental is available at a cost of €10 - reduced from the normal cost of €30. If you would like to avail of this offer please book via the following link (you will not be able to purchase a discounted bike on the day).
We will stop for a break along the way and will regroup in Abbeyfeale for coffee/lunch at Gourmet Green.
With thanks to GOSHH, the Limerick Sports Partnership & Sporting Pride.
As above, we will meet at 9:45 for safety checks, safety briefing, welcome and introductions. Beginning the cycle, we will follow the old Limerick to Kerry railway line - the greenway seamlessly links the West Limerick landscape with towns and villages located in some of the country's most historic sites.
Passing over Ferguson Viaduct, through Tullig Woods and many other sites , we will eventually arrive at Abbeyfeale Station. Here, we regroup, leave the greenway and cycle down Railway Road (R524) 1km to the Main Street in Abbeyfeale. Turning left here onto the N21, we continue 500 meters to our coffee stop at 'Gourmet Green'. The banter, craic and chat continues here with some well earned refreshments before we call it a day and return by bus to Rathkeale.

I’m an enthusiastic leisure cyclist keen to see more people cycling in my area. I have a new found love of cycling greenways and now roads thanks to being a past participant of AXA Community Bike Rides near and far.
