From Hotel Kilkenny, we take the cycle path out the Callan Road. At Cuffesgrange, we join the main Callan Road for a short time before turning left for Burnchurch. After Burnchurch Castle, we take a further left past Burnchurch National School and join the main Kells Road for a kilometre or so. At Viper, we take a right turn and follow a rural road which after a few kilometres emerges at Newtown. Leaving Newtown, we link onto a road leading to Dunnamaggin. At a crossroads, we take the right fork for Callan/Ballytobin. At Ballytobin crossroads, we take an immediate right followed by a left turn after a few hundred metres. After a few kilometres, we join the main Windgap-Callan Road and turn left for Windgap, which we reach after a further 5km.
We will have travelled approximately 32km at this stage and will stop at Windgap Community Centre for a well deserved break.
Our return home starts by taking a rural link road from Windgap to Kilmaganny. An up and down section of 4km road brings us to the village and after passing north through Kilmaganny, we take a flat main road for 9km to the village of Kells. If we wish, a further short stop can be made there. Passing over the Kings River, we take a right turn past Kings Mill and make our way through various short rural roads to a crossroads between Danesfort and Seven Houses. At the crossroads, we take a right turn and intersect the main Waterford Road and take a left for Kilkenny City. Our ride of appproximately 62km ends at the edge of Kilkenny's Ring Road.

I am a leisure cyclist for many years. Over the last few years I have participated in many Community Bike Rides and like their camaraderie and ethos. I have completed the leaders course so that I can share that enjoyment with fellow leisure cyclists.
