Stoneyford to Jerpointabbey

Knockdrinna Café, Stoneyford
Group size

Road/Hybrid Bikes

We will leave Stoneyford and turn left at the bottom of the village, taking us to Noreland's crossing at the scenic Nore River. We continue on this road until we reach a T-Junction, moving onto the Bennettsbridge/Thomastown road where we will turn left and then a right almost immediately, bringing us onto Kibline crossroads. Here, we will continue straight, passing by Tullaherin Tower and taking a right turn to bring us to Stroen Fountain. We then turn right to Thomastown and take our coffee break at 'The Hub Café'. Once refreshed, we will take the Jerpointabbey Road, turning right at Goatsbridge Trout Farm and onto Mount Juliet. Shortly after this, we will take a left to get us onto the Knocktopher/Stoneyford road before turning right to take us back to our starting point. The vast majority of this ride is on quiet backroads, where we can chat as we peddle. It is a very enjoyable route with few hills, great scenery and historical sites to see.

The café stop may only have indoor seating available -  please bring COVID vaccine certificate if possible.

I am a cycling enthusiast and feel it is such a great way to exercise in a leisurely enjoyable pastime. Having experienced being a participant with our Kilkenny group, I felt it would be a great asset to have a local group in Thomastown, which is why I became a leader. I try to vary my rides distance and speed wise to accommodate everyone's level of fitness and bike confidence.
