The Barony of Bargy Spin.
This is a 59km spin which covers a lot of the Barony of Bargy in the South-West corner of County Wexford. This ride starts at the earlier time of 9.30am.
We meet opposite the Catholic Church in Taghmon.
We leave the village and head for Foulksmills, passing through Goff’s Bridge on the way. At the top of the street in Foulksmills, we turn left at the pubs and cycle to Wellingtonbridge. We pass Rosegarland Estate on our left just before the village. Here we cross the old railway line and the Corock River. We turn right at the pub after the bridge onto the R736. This road takes us along The Green Road beside the cockle strand at Bannow Bay. At the T-Junction, we stop and turn left and cycle up the steep incline into the village of Carrig-on-Bannow.
From Carrig, we cycle down to Cullenstown where there are lovely views of the sea and The Keeragh Islands. We ride along the coast as far as Duncormick where we rejoin the R736. We stop at the junction just before Duncormick. This is a busy junction and there is limited visibility to the left so extra care is necessary. Just after the village of Duncormick, we go right and from here we continue to Killag and then on to the fishing village of Kilmore Quay overlooking The Saltee Islands, where we will take our break for coffee.
After the break, we leave The Quay and cycle north up to Kilmore Village and then on to Bridgetown. In Bridgetown, we cross the bridge over the railway track and turn left and we cycle a few kilometres to Baldwinstown. We turn right at the four way stop in Baldwinstown and then continue for 8/10km to Waddingtown.
At the T-Junction with The New Line Road, we stop. We turn left and then almost immediately right. This quiet road takes us straight back to the village of Taghmon. We stop at the R738 in Taghmon and turn left and then turn right up Stream Street. At the top of Stream Street, we turn right again and the car park is immediately on our right opposite the church.

I live in Castlebridge in Co. Wexford and I am a keen leisure cyclist. I try to get out as often as possible and enjoy cycling mostly within my own locality. I would love to see more people out on their bikes, taking advantage of all the health and social benefits that cycling has to offer.
